If it was collector's head gear the insignias have been removed to preserve the insignia prices.

I mean, this is great, but if you are going to apply insignas to lower-level collector pieces, why not max? I'd rather have it be both or neither.
|
The only thing that ever made collector's armor worse than purchased armor was the fact that you could only get "base" collectors armor; ie, modless max armor. If max collector's armor were inscribable, no one would ever buy max armor from places like droks. 25 farmable items < 7.5k + mats.

I agree. I normally don't complain too much about the updates.
This one though. I have an ele from Tyria that I like the collectors armor look best and now she get's screwed. The stats on that armor are the basic no insignia stats. And I can't mod it why?
I spent at least as much time getting the materials required for the collectors as anyone that bought theres did, if not more. Why not allow the collectors armor to be updated? I do NOT understand. Could someone from ANET explain?

It's their new tactic, you see: We can't complain for more storage space (even beyond what they've given us) if we can't get items.

But there is a bug - the max collector scalp patterns aren't able to have a Radiant insignia added, and they lost their inherent +1 energy...

omg... People are complaining about something being exactly the same as it was before this update.
Collectors armor NEVER had the insignia attributes. That's why it was always better to BUY your final armor. ANET 'removing' insignia capability from the collectors armor is the same as it's always been.

Collectors scalp patters never gave a +1 energy. Collector's armor has always been inferior to crafter's.

Sorry, you are dead wrong. I got all my necro and monk headgear from the desert collectors, and they came with an inherent +1 energy. That bonus disappeared yesterday.

I liked the old armor system better. I expect now that all armor can have Insignias, the Insignia prices will jump, so now my armor will cost more to craft than 7.5k + materials.
Makes it seem like Anet is forcing a gold sink if we want armor that is equivalent to our previous non-Insignia armor. Thanks.

Hmm.. I checked wiki and see what you are talking about. I'm confused since every piece of collectors armor I've received was inferior in stats to purchased. Does this only apply to certain head pieces?

Any pre-patch desert collector monk/necro headgear had +1 energy along with whichever attribute bonus one wanted.
I seem to recall pre-desert designs having +1 energy as well, but it's been a long time.

So the head pieces were the only collector's armor that where NOT inferior to purchased? I know warrior collectors is. (never had a monk)

Alright, simple math; most desert collector items (pretty much everything save the bleached shells) can be bought for 50-150g. Let's say on average it costs you 100g per item; that's 2.5k for your full set, which is much less than droknar's armor.
Collector armor (barring headgear) has always been inferior to purchased armor. As for the headgear, if they kept it as +1 insignias, people would just salvage the insignias for cheap.

It is the reason why I ran 15k armor with collector headgear on my casters except for ele (since +1 energy is crap on an ele...)...all the collector headgear had the +1 energy except warrior, which was clean.
Anyway I think they should have took out the insignias BUT allowed them to be insignia-able (is that a word) since I, like many others, turn off the caster headgear anyhow.

That is what happened to my tats and it is a big deal as you will have to buy the insignias to get back the energy lost.Btw they are now at 2.1K for a set of 5 you are looking at over 10K more like 11K.I expect they will still be going up.

My boyfriend isn't very happy. He's bringing a character through prophecies. He's a casual player, poor, and isn't a real big fan of farming. So losing the inherent mods on his armor and not being able to buy cheap energy armor once he gets to drok's has him very annoyed.
As for me... I'm annoyed at having to rebuy headpieces that used to be just as good as crafted ones. Not that I really need +1 energy, it's just irritating that I'd have to shell out 2k for the insignia, and 1k + materials for the headpiece, JUST to make it the same as it was before. Which is more than the crafter's cost before the update.
And my energy-less 55 armor... I'm just merching it because since the loot scaling I don't solo farm anyway.
